We selected this place almost randomly while walking around based on the menu and atmosphere - one entrance is in a courtyard off an alley near one of the canals. We can't remember the full name of what we ordered but it was the Tagliata. WOW best beef with fungi on the planet! Great wine recommendation and friendly, welcoming service. A+++++
We walked in right at opening and they were able to seat us without a reservation. The waiter kindly suggested a wine for us after checking on our price point. We asked for a white, but he understandably brought out a red, but apologized and fixed it after we clarified we wanted white, despite our food choice. We got the cured meats platter, spaghetti, and rigatoni alla bolonese, and tiramisu. Bread came to the table without asking. They whisked away our menus before we could inquire after 2nd course, but the starter and pastas were good portions, enough food for us.
The food was excellent and everything tasted very homemade. However, there was a particular waiter that looked in his 50s that was absurd. He kept on targeting me and kept on telling me to turn off my phone. My phone was on mute, no sound. I was just reading. Even when my phone was below the table, in the lock screen, he repeated to switch it off and place it on the table faced down. Everyone else was using their phone but he seemed to only have a problem with me. If this issue is resolved, this place would have been the best place i have eaten at during my 2 weeks trip in italy.
Thoroughly enjoyed my experience here! Good service - friendly and attentive without feeling watched. Had the Milanese risotto (16€) and tiramisu (7€). Highly recommend the risotto!! Not a local but this was so delicious. Flavourful, al dente rice, creamy. Also had the tiramisu (7€) - For the food portion, quality and ambience, the price is reasonable! Restaurant ambience was also impeccable, away from the Navigli chaos :)
My partner and I dined at Osteria della Darsena for our short trip to Milan for my birthday celebration. We were greeted and seated by a distinguished, well turned out and smartly dressed gentleman who oversaw our dining experience from start finish. Service. The gentleman waiter was so attentive and proficient with his service. He recommended wine for us, giving us a couple of bottles to choose from. For me a simple menu is often an indicator that the food served will be good. I wasn’t wrong for this restaurant. Amazingly tasty food in good sized portions. Every course was flavoursome and left you stopping to savour each mouth full. The timing between each course was perfect and the waiter topped up our bread when he noticed the basket empty. All the attention to detail from him and the quality of food made for a perfect evening. I would highly recommend eating here if you are in Milan. You won’t be disappointed. Truly amazing dining experience for a self confessed foodie.
The staff is just amazing, if you go try and book a table on the ground level, we liked the atmosphere there better that the one downstairs. The food looked great but the risotto was not too good and I had such a fried octopus like even though the taste was good the meat was way to fried....
